For the first time, Lenovo showed the prototype of a laptop with a flexible screen back in May last year, promising to release it on the market in 2020; At the same time, Lenovo made its debut transformer laptop on the 7nm SoC Snapdragon 8cx. Now the full-fledged premiere of both has taken place: the first will enter the market under the name Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold, and the second – Lenovo Yoga 5G. As for the “world’s first flexible display PC” Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold, which is more a tablet than a laptop, it will go on sale in the second half of 2020 at a price of $ 2499. It was initially clear that the device would be expensive, so the announced amount was not a surprise, given the cost of previously released bendable smartphones. But the question here is whether the new product can meet the manufacturer’s expectations. Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold stands out for its relatively compact size (after all, its thickness is quite large) and low weight. A device made in a case of light alloys and carbon fiber weighs less than one kilogram. When unfolded, it offers a 13.3-inch OLED touchscreen with a resolution of 2048×1536 pixels. The maximum brightness of a 4: 3 screen is 300 nits. There are two modes of operation: laptop mode, in which the screen is divided in half into two independent ones, as well as a “monoblock” mode with a wireless keyboard. In the folded state, a rather large gap remains between the halves of the case, but Lenovo figured out how to beat this design feature – the manufacturer suggests using this place for the Mini Fold Bluetooth keyboard when carrying it. It is included in the package and is ideal for users who prefer a familiar keyboard to a trendy virtual keyboard with tactile feedback. In total, two operating modes are obtained, but it will be possible to finally say how convenient it is to work with a screen of this size only after using the device for a while.Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold is equipped with an unnamed Intel Core processor with integrated 11th generation Intel UHD graphics, 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM with a frequency of 4267 MHz, 1 TB SSD with PCIe 3.0 x4 interface and NVMe support and a battery of 50 kW * h. Of the ports, there are two USB Type-C. The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold will enter the market with Windows 10 Pro, but the manufacturer may start selling versions of Windows 10X for folding PCs when it becomes available. In addition to the keyboard, a leather case with an integrated hinged stand and a stylus are also included in the package.
